And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. – Mark 16:17
In some circles, deliverance ministry is a controversial topic with some people claiming that deliverance isn’t scriptural. Clearly, according to the word of Jesus, it is.
To be sure there have been abuses. In some cases those who perform deliverance ministry are ill-equipped. In others, fees are charged for what should be a free ministry available to anyone in need. This warrants attention – and reasonable discernment – but not a denial of the ministry itself.
Can a born again Christian need deliverance? According to Bible teaching and language scholar Derek Prince, they can. In the wonderful video above Prince shares his views on deliverance ministry. He goes on to explain the subtle, yet importance, linguistic distinction between, possession and demonization.
While the video is a little long, the explanation mentioned above is given in the first 10 to 15 minutes. It provides a solid, scriptural and well thought out perspective on deliverance ministry.
I have had my own personal experience with the demonic. I know that demons are real, and active in our society. While I agree with Derek Prince when he says that sincere Bible believing born again Christians cannot be fully possessed, I also agree with what he says next.
There are aspects of our personalities not fully under control of the Holy Spirit which can, be influenced by the opposition.
Please keep an open mind.
